Didn’t acknowledge me beyond that chilling, unwavering stare. He simply let me stand there, marinating in the scrutiny, feeling the weight of his invisible leash. He turned back to his group, effortlessly charming, a king secure in his domain. I was the disobedient subject, granted an audience but pointedly ignored.
