The Inheritance Games Novels & Stories

It was all his plan to begin with. From her grandmother to herself, everyone was merely a player in the game he had created. The game of inheritance. He purposely made them all fought for it. His children and their wives were automatically out of the game because during their younger years, there was a huge fight going on which had their rights removed in an instant. She was too young to understand what it was, she only remembered the aftermath of it. Drinking her tea, she returned to face him once more. Her eyes gazed deep into his as she explained.

"It's me." My tone was firm, but there was helplessness in it, too. The three of them were so angry that they nearly hit me. "We think it's you, too, but the point is the Coxes will kill you!" They paced around anxiously. "They clearly already drafted the billion-dollar inheritance agreement. They're just waiting for the heiress to sign it. So why would they kill you the moment you're confirmed as the heiress?" Rebecca clutched her head.

When we refused, saying we had sworn an oath, they invoked the Game of Druskell. The opposing families who wanted the bride would compete in four deadly games. The winner of all four would then face the person who already had the bride—in this case, me. If the one holding the bride didn’t want her, they could choose to forfeit the final fight. To begin the game, the bride had to officially pick the competitors at a “friendly” party—even though there was nothing friendly about it. If she didn’t choose, she’d be branded a traitor to her kind, as if she didn’t want the Regalia clan to grow.

Everyone’s phone went off at once. "What?" Liam’s fiancée, Chloe, frowned, moving closer to his side. I looked down at my phone. A blood-red scale appeared on the screen. [Welcome to The Last Zombie: Final Reckoning.] [Detected: 15 members of the Sterling family.] [Objective: Eliminate all zombies. The last player standing inherits the entire family fortune.] [Current Asset Valuation: $12.7 Billion.] The living room went dead silent. "What kind of sick joke is this?" Liam tried to close the app, but the screen wouldn't budge. "Who made this?"

“Lucas? Or the inheritance?” “Neither.” My protest was instant, but it lacked conviction. “I don’t want either.” “Don’t want either?” She tilted her head, curls bouncing. “Come on, babe. That’s not how this works. Think about it. It’s a package deal. If she gets Lucas, she has to look valuable to the Bristo family, which means she needs Black inheritance behind her and if she gets the inheritance without Lucas, your parents will just ship her off to another rich bastard who might be worse than him. Either way…she wins.”

After finding out that I'm the illegitimate daughter of the richest man in town, Frank Gibson, I excitedly rush over to meet my biological father. But the moment I arrive at his mansion, I discover that 98 other illegitimate daughters are already lined up to claim him as their father. It turns out Frank's only son has died, and he now needs an heir for his trillion-dollar fortune. So, he gathers all his illegitimate daughters and plans to choose the strongest candidate through a competition. I know I don't stand a chance against the others. Just as I hang my head in disappointment and prepare to leave, a line of text suddenly appears before my eyes. "Don't go, darling! It's your mom. I

“And oh, I forgot to mention. The treaty specifically stipulates that I'm forbidden to have any family. At all. So, Calian is probably going to come for you now. Right now, they think you are my sister. My blood. That makes you an heir that isn't supposed to exist.” “Why is that against the rules? An heir… .” “Shitty old people, making shitty decisions. I'm not allowed to have blood walking around. So the Alphaship can return to the wolves after I die. Point is, if there is one, people will come for it… in this case…you.” Troy stares at him. Did he really just put her in this predicament? Did he seriously not care if she died? “So… you said that so they will get rid of me?”

Its base was adorned with a tiny, almost imperceptible etching: the same stylized crest of The Genesis Council. A pawn. In a game Alexander didn't fully understand, played by unseen hands. And Leo, his son, was the ultimate prize. The thought spurred a cold, terrifying resolve. He had been a player in their game for too long. Now, he would burn their chessboard if he had to, to get his son back.

With a face full of grief, I swung the club in a wide arc and brought it down on Violet's calf with brutal force. "He's a fake heir, and you're the real daughter! You'd betray your own parents for some outsider? You've been possessed by a demon!" I kept swinging, shouting my heartbreak with every strike. "Vi, we share the same blood—hurting you hurts me too! But for this family, for the Sanders name, I'm taking care of this villain today! I have to wake you up! A family that stands together thrives! We have to cut out the cancer!"

Leo nodded and disappeared down the stairs, his footsteps light and eager. Lydia and Adrian stayed on the balcony for a moment longer, watching the lighthouse beam begin its nightly sweep. The white light cut through the gathering dusk, a steady, rhythmic pulse that said *We are here, we are alive, and the way is clear.* The inheritance was finally settled. It wasn't found in the blood, the labs, or the towers. It was found in the salt of the sea, the soil of the gardens, and the eyes of the children who would never know the name of the man who tried to own the sun.
