He bites back, pushing me into the hands of a guard, “Book her. We’ll see how confident you are after you’ve met your cellmate.” The guard in question takes my fingerprints and mugshots, then leads me back into a icey block of cells. The cramped spaces are lined with iron bars, and furnished with nothing beyond a concrete slab and a scratchy blanket. I suppose most former Luna’s would balk at such conditions, but what these men don’t realize is that I’ve been a prisoner before. Sure, the conditions were luxurious beyond belief – but a gilded cage is still a cage.

Only a white sleeveless shirt covered his muscled upper body. She gasped and unconsciously reached out to Ysiah in support as her knees had turned into rubber.

“We’ll call a doctor. We’ll figure this out. We’re gonna fight this.” But Brielle didn’t move. Author’s POV… Deep in the Lunar Fangs dungeon, the food servant went round the cells of the special inmates who weren’t allowed to leave the cells to have their meals. Because these prisoners were regarded as dangerous, they had their bathrooms right in the cells and were never allowed to come out. The servant had gone round serving food, and had reached the cell of a certain inmate who hadn’t been returning his plates. “Bring out your plate, or you won’t be served your next meal,” the servant warned.

“I bet you taste like roses and honey.” I didn’t break our stare-down. “Can a prisoner at least get a book? I mean, if you’re not going to entertain me in any other way…” It was probably not wise to poke him, but I wasn’t some weakling he could bend with a few harsh words and threats. He stared at me before disappearing into his “office” but surprised me when he came back over with a book in his hand. He let loose a battered and beaten flutter of pages through the top of the cage. It landed in my lap with a thump. The binding was cracked and the worn pages indicated it was a much-read book. The cover wasn’t familiar, but it was also scuffed and torn.

“Got it. Pretty. Boy. Princess of Cellblock C. We’ll find your vibe eventually.” He turned away and began reorganizing his things—again. He was indeed pretty, in a very masculine way. I doubt he wasn't already having a hard time with the rest of the prisoners. Oh, the things I've seen them do to guys this attractive as him…well, lucky him, he should be grateful fate made us cross paths.
