ALEC. The smell of colours and perfumes hit my nostrils first upon setting foot outside the palace, and inside the kingdom of Serenacia. The scene in front of me beautiful and adoring, as I watch the people of Serenacia roam around with such happiness and delight in them, as they walk from one shop to another, buying their accessories for the upcoming event, which is the people's ceremony. I continue to watch them as the vendors who sell decorations and wears, are the ones to mostly get the populated customers, followed by the shops selling colours and perfumes.

Turning to Jasmine, I said, “Come sit and tell me what you know about this woman.” Jasmine obediently sat in the chair that Lance had just vacated. “She is like master said. She is the daughter of a rich plantation owner. They own slaves and are cruel to them.” When I looked at her expectantly, she continued. “She is very close with master’s uncle. It is rumored that she wishes to marry Jason.” Leaning forward, she said in a hushed voice, “She is first born and has the magic.”

She took a deep breath and walked towards the throne, silencing everyone, but someone mocked her. “Is she going to replace her brother? What does she know about the business and other transactions?” Carrie swallowed and clenched her fist, but she remained unaffected by the criticism. She faced everyone and looked at them proudly, while her cousins, who had been quiet earlier, were proud of her as they watched the others argue over the throne. “Can we proceed?” she asked, smiling, and ignored a member of their group who was also from a well-known family but was only there because of her grandfather’s help.

Out of backs arched in defiance and men taught to obey with a single look. Jasmine sat on the throne with her legs slightly parted, one bare foot resting on the velvet-covered armrest like she owned every inch of it. Her fingers played lazily with a ring she’d stolen off a dead man’s finger the night before. Her thighs still smelled like smoke and sex and vengeance. Not a single wolf in the chamber met her gaze. Not even Roger. Especially not Roger. Because he knew—better than any of them—that she had crossed the line that no woman before her had dared.

She was a pale petite little thing with silver hair & violet eyes, but she was a faithful servant to me. I respected that she took good care of me, even if she was only doing it on Azak's orders, which I didn't believe she was. Most of the other servants in the palace wouldn't even look at me when they passed me. They were still caught up in the past and the division of our Kingdom.
