CHAPTER 1: GROWING PAINS Two Months Ago… AVA My heart pounded like a war drum as I stood in the council chamber, my crown feeling heavy. The advisors' voices blend into a cacophony of worry, each word hammering home the gravity of the situation the Kingdom was in.

Even then, she’d have to give herself over to the idea of being mates before she could fully feel the bond, but I was willing to wait for as long as that took. In the meantime, I would show her all the wonderful things that she’d been missing out on—starting with where I lived. “We’re mates?” Ava asked. “So what does that mean, really?” “It means we’re supposed to be together.” “But that’s impossible,” she scoffed, rolling her eyes. “I’m a human, and you’re some sort of...what, werewolf king?” I smiled. “Sort of, yes. I’m the Alpha King. And Ava, you’re not human.”

Jesus! My eyes are large, my jaw agaped, and my mind blown when I see his stomach regenerating. Within a minute, his entire body is fixed like nothing happened and King Marcellus floats to stand on his feet. "The Central king will not tell you but I will. He tried to kill me because of a human." King Marcellus speaks only a fraction of the truth. "Is it true, Kael?" These three new presences give off the same royal aura too, so I'm guessing they are also Kings and Queens.

Aven tried to keep his voice low “But Father, King Atticus is… around 30 centuries old, that’s impossible. Nero sighed, gently face palming himself as King Atticus laughed for almost a minute “Oh! My oh my! I never would have fathomed that Queen Nessa’s son would be just as dull-witted.” Aven quickly bowed his head despite King Atticus’s insults. “No need to bow my boy though your father should pay his respect to the man who represents the gods,” Atticus had finally shown a serious demeanor. Aven became amused when his father dropped to his knees and bowed his head “Forgive me, O’ Mighty King of the Valley of Fools!”

Kings have powers that ordinary humans do not have, who can deny that they are the ones most worthy of leading civilization? Although Lithonia and Evangelia seemed fine, it was seen from the two kings and queens who shook each other and threw greetings. However, it is different from the eternal enemy of the kingdom formed in the name of this god, the kingdom that was built from the betrayal of their ancestors that made Lithonia a cruel and brutal battlefield.

I couldn’t picture myself getting bound to a heartless woman. “I am the King!” I vociferated, releasing my dominant scent, making everyone around the grounds of torture, bow. The servants began to shake in fear due to my uproar. Prince Byron tilted his head just like Princess Violet. Even Jay kept quiet for once in hours. “I am the King Archie Kovan Of the Wereland. I rule and make commands not listen and obey commands. Do you get that?” I growled. That one was meant for Princess Violet but I didn't bother to specify until I spoke again.

He turned and went to the door of the chamber before he turned to look at me. "You're going to be the next clan head, Adam. You're a vampire. Humans are mere food for us. Treat them like that and your life will be easier." And then he was gone, leaving me unbound. I tried to put the chains back on my wrists and ankles but it was no use. He had completely shattered them to pieces. My hunger was tugging deep inside me, calling my attention. This can't be. I can't be let out while I am in this state.

"when you get back, we will organise a competition." "I don't want she-wolves competing over me," I said, the whole idea left me feeling dirty. I hated the idea of being forced to take a random stranger as a mate over my goddess chosen mate. The goddess made mates perfect for us in every way, so why should I settle. The King saw it differently. Since learning his mate couldn't have children he'd grown hard and resentful. Why the King of all people should have an infertile mate was a secret the goddess held onto tightly.

Purity them replied causing both brothers to give each other looks. “So why are you interested in them?” Marcus then decided to ask her while sitting in the back sit. “Why should i not be? In America we don’t have a royal family so it’s sort of exciting to me that here in Netherlands they actually do that and have actual Kings, Queens and princes. I mostly see them on TV so wonder how they are like in real life.” Purity then replied both boys unaware of how they both sighed in relief when they realized she did not know the real truth.
