"You're getting treated first, okay? You mean more to me than whatever is happening. I can't lose you. I fucking can't!" Tears slipped down my cheek as he said those heartfelt words. His voice was thick with emotions and I could see the tears that slipped down his cheeks. This was probably going to be our last moments together. I was going to tell him how much I loved him and I wanted him to say the same to me because this was going to be the last tien he would feel this for me. I could already imagine the hate he was going to feel towards him after letting him know that I had been sent to kill him. That I had been sent to monitor and answer to someone else while pretending to be a man.

"You know I hate it when you fake being sick for attention." In that final second before the world went black, the last thing I saw was his back as he walked out on me. And the very last spark of warmth in my heart finally went cold.

Before he disappeared completely, his eyes met mine, and he spoke his final words. "Now build something better."

My life was gone, all hope was lost. I wished I could tell Eve everything I knew before I died. I didn't live a happy life but I promised to always have the best memories of my life, the ones with Eve and Alfy. "I love you all." I said that really weakly that I wasn't sure if she heard me or I didn't say it out at all. "Justin is–" I wanted to clarify things and let her know that he was innocent but the blood that suddenly choked my throat interrupted me. I coughed it out with my last strength and my eyes suddenly got the chance to shut completely, letting out my last breath (a loud exhalation).

Noah immediately looked away. Because he already knew the answer. And Liam saw it. The realization shattered whatever remained of his peace. Without another word, Liam turned and walked toward the balcony door. "Noah." His voice stopped him. Liam didn't turn around. Didn't look back. Didn't move. When he spoke again, his voice sounded distant. Broken. "Promise me something." Noah frowned. "What?" A long pause followed. Then Liam said the words that would haunt Noah for years. "If anything ever happens to me..."

A final burst of clarity before the end. "Seraphina, is there anything you still want to do?" His voice trembled as he fought back tears. "I'll take you anywhere. I'll carry you there myself." I shook my head slightly. "I'm tired." Closing my eyes, I let out a long breath. "Conrad, in the next life, let's not meet again." The words snapped the final thread holding Conrad together. There was no forgiveness. No peace. Only complete exhaustion. I was not even willing to waste hatred on him anymore.
