Lyra’s Pov I slipped through the trees as quietly as I could. My heart was beating fast, but I kept my breathing steady. The Shadowfang border was very close now. I could smell their markers strongly in the air. I had practiced this mission for months: steal the war plans from Alpha Kael’s den and get out safely. My village needed those plans badly. His pack had burned our village to the ground last year and taken my family. I was the only one left to fight back. Even though I was an omega, I trained to be a spy. My suppressants kept my heart rate down so I wouldn’t have problems during the mission.

But then as I got closer, I got flashes of his moment with that stupid Scarlett… It reminded me so much of Talon… What if Asher could replace Talon? He was a Lycan too afterall… I could use him. I could take him for myself, bend him, mold him, make him believe he was mine. This was the other plan I had tucked away for the perfect moment… and this was it. The King’s face was unreadable, although I could tell he wasn’t entirely disapproving. If anything, the Silvermist pack, with its advantageous position, would be an asset to the Lycans. Not that it was going to the Lycans. Perhaps I was one now, at least on paper for the time being, but Silvermist was just for me. I had to make sure that it became my child’s legacy in the way that it never got to be mine.
