One clear morning, Marina was swimming in the outskirts of her community when a shoal of fish quickly swam towards her. The siren stopped her swimming and allowed the fish to get closer to her; she was worried that something bad was happening if the fishes were swimming so fast. “What is going on little friends?” Marina asked the fish. Although they could not speak in the same way they did, sirens could communicate with all the animals in the ocean, and thanks to this Marina was capable to understand the fish when they told her somebody was pushing their friends out to the surface.

CHAPTER 3 MELISSA The storm of the century hits just after midnight. The lighthouse groans like it’s alive, wind screaming, waves exploding against the rocks below. The lantern room is a chaos of lightning flashes and hurricane roar, and I’m pressed face-first to the massive curved glass, palms flat, legs spread, completely naked and glowing like a bioluminescent goddess. Because Nerites is breeding me again.

Everyone read them at the same time. The inscription glowed softly. And the message echoed through the darkness. TO THOSE WHO REMEMBER. The sea went silent. The tower trembled. "We're too late for the initial takedown, but not too late to intercept the move," I stated, shifting our strategy instantly. "The Lighthouse is warded, Zeva. It's designed to keep thieves out. But a mage who relies on wards usually relies on a power source. We neutralize the source and take the Crystal." We took an old smuggler's path up the treacherous coastal cliffs. The Lighthouse stood alone, a massive stone pillar against the stormy sky, its base surrounded by a thick, shimmering curtain of elemental wards.

It was midnight, and only the lighthouse served as our beacon of light. "Prepararsi ad attaccare (Prepare to attack)!" I shouted while clicking my gun, shooting at the first intruder jumping into our deck. The sound of guns resonated in the dark horizon, had no idea who betrayed us this time, but would surely pay a horrible death.

A picture of the lighthouse from Katherine's dreams was now on the screen, and beside it was the history of it. This historic lighthouse was built in 1918 to help freighter ships reach the port town of Merytonburg safely. It is located on an island three miles from the Merytonbug Dock, and has been out of use since the late 1940's due to numerous mysterious accidents occurring on the island. The lighthouse is supposedly haunted by one of the lighthouse keepers, Ray Stalls-" Katherine's heart stopped as she read the name. Ray Stalls? But how...?

Damien drives to a storage unit on the edge of town and unlocks a metal door, revealing a stash of equipment, flashlights, rope, even a second handgun. I stare. “You were ready for this.” “I hoped I’d never need it,” he replies. He hands me a flashlight and a small can of pepper spray. “Stay close to me. No matter what happens, you don’t run off. Understand?” I nod, though fear twists through every nerve. The old lighthouse rises from the cliffs like a jagged tooth, waves crashing below. The storm has moved out to sea, leaving the night raw and sharp. We approach on foot, the path slick with rain. My flashlight beam cuts through the mist.
