The Black Cliff
The girl pursed her lips and, stretching out her hand, felt the already known emptiness with her fingers – the pearl was missing.
Nocté heart painfully squeezed, her breath hitched, and black dots covered her eyes. Through the veil, she saw a live newt, heard the wonderful melody of awfully familiar voice – her own, which she had had since birth and gave to the sea witch in exchange for human legs. The newt were crawling out of the water to her, scratching the stone floor with his nails. The sea was roaring behind her. The unlucky newt's lips spread into a happy smile, his gaze was enchanted, his mind was drugged by singing.
