Dark Water
"If you have my soul, you'll not have the others."
A low mist rose through the boards, as if being saturated in from outside, and the room grew darker. Nathaniel could barely see his own hands, even though the candle glowed brightly, the blackness eating its light.
The sound of burning, and distant echo of agony tore at his eardrums, creating a throb in his skull worse than a blow from an iron bar.
'Hear them and fear them.'
A dark shape materialised in the corner, rising taller than a normal man, its limbs elongated and torse contorted and deformed. It was devoid of features but Nathaniel could feel it staring. Could hear its voice clawing in his mind.
