I hesitated before I stood up to go check whoever is it out, but then the knock only came once. I walk slowly to the door, I made to open it but hesitated as I don’t know what or who is outside, I peeped through the tiny hole to see a guy in black, I really can’t see him clearly. Suddenly he turns around and start walking away leaving a note on my doorstep, when am sure he left and gone I open the door and take the letter.

He looked around the house noticing the mayer of the room. He followed James into the kitchen. The notebook was on the table. He saw it immediately. Small. Plain cover. Filled with James'shandwriting. "Tea?" James asked, already reaching for the kettle. "Please," the man said. He sat down at the kitchen table while James filled the kettle and set it on the table. He watched James's with keen interest as he sat there. He was taking in information about everything happening around him that moment. James set a cup in front of him and sat down across the table with his own cup.

He then rolls his eyes and shakes his head as though I've disappointed him. I miss someone stepping up to the desk next to me because I'm focused on Ian. Avoid hearing the chair swivel. Outside, the courtyard bird begins its daily routine, and somewhere in the kitchen the first coffee starts brewing. The compound moves into another day with the familiar precision it has maintained for fifteen years. My phone buzzes. Théo. Not a message. Just a photograph. The blue notebook with the silver moon on the cover lies open to the first page. In careful handwriting are two words:

On second thought, I definitely should have delivered the contents of the box that way. The gate opens and I stand there for a second, looking at his house. I’ve not seen beyond the gates of any of the houses in my neighborhood; I’ve never even met any of my neighbors. His driveway is short and cobblestone, just like mine; and his house is similar to mine except it’s at least twice as large. It’s fucking huge.
