Several crates of untraceable firearms had been smashed open, but nothing had been taken. This wasn't a robbery. "The casualty count is twelve," Nathaniel said, stepping aside to let me through the circle of guards. "But they left one for us to find." “Where?” Nathaniel showed me. I’m not a murderer in any way and I have never associated myself with Jeff. Did he treat you that badly? he asked, looking genuinely concerned but I was not in the mood for entertaining him. I wanted him gone. I never even wished to meet with him again.

"I thought now that I'm back in town, you'd be out for blood." Jean's expression softened. "Back when we were kids, I wanted to kill you, thinking you were the one who caused Jeffrey's drowning. But as we grew older, I finally came to understand it was an accident. I realized that Jeffrey's bullying was the cause of his own demise." We talked for a while longer, and as we shook hands, I knew that a new friendship had begun. As I walked over to Ronnie, she asked me how it went. "It went well," I said. I deserve to know who wants me dead.” The man growled in frustration and ran his free hand through his hair. “You don’t understand!” Just as the homeless werewolf cocked his gun, Jeffrey pounced on him. He pinned the other man’s arms down with his legs and ripped the pistol out of his hand, throwing it far out of his reach.
