“I was always you.” “And I was constantly scared,” I murmured. “But not anymore.” I let go. Not in her hands. Of myself. My soul unraveled—but not apart. It stretched. It merged. With her. So she sat there in the serene dining room, the only sound the rhythmic ticking of the clock, and her thoughts dwelling on the storm she was about to unleash. Nysaa grew increasingly restless as she waited for Dr. Ruiz. The absence of her therapist was unusual and left her with a gnawing sense of worry. I closed my eyes, forcing myself to calm down and shut my wolf. “Damn it.” I curled in pain after forcefully subduing my wolf. The pain was immeasurable.
