One night, he hugged me and whined, "Darling, marrying you is such a huge project."
I smiled. "Christopher, after putting in so much effort, you wouldn't run away on the wedding day, would you?"
He fell silent for a moment.
Then, after a long pause, he pulled me closer. "Darling, how could I ever run away? I love you to death."
Yet, the same man who "loved me to death" sent a message to his friends' group chat:
"Planning a wedding is exhausting. That's why ditching it at the last second feels so damn satisfying, doesn't it?"
