When I Walked Away
Time had passed, and now I was the one defending someone else.
Lucy wavered, stumbling back two steps, her face ghostly pale.
I ignored her, turning to leave with Hugh and Rylee. Once we stepped out of the banquet hall, I thanked them.
“There’s no need,” Hugh said. “Honestly, I didn’t expect your ex-wife to be like that, Graham. I can’t imagine how you’ve put up with her all these years.”
Hugh patted my shoulder sympathetically and glanced at Rylee, teasing, “Rylee’s so young, yet she’s not nearly as unreasonable.”
