Out of my willingness, i gulped nervously and attentively moved my ass backwards. "I'm gonna see him today, whether you like it or not." He arrogantly put his hands inside his slacks' pockets. I couldn't look at him anymore without the wrath in my eyes. This persistent brute is giving his full energy for the game he started, huh! Well then, better give him the same intensity. I won't ever let him win against me for the second chance. I've already had my defeat the last time i gave him the access over my weaknesses and i wouldn't repeat the same mistake, for i have my promise to myself, to Syd and to my son that i'm braver now. Stronger than distractions, my inner desires and temptations.

I had to. "Race the race. It’s a win-win. No backing down until I win," I muttered under my breath, the old mantra I shared with Ashley from when we were kids. We’d come up with it the day we watched a horse race with my dad. Seven years old, both of us wide-eyed, thrilled by the power and speed of the horses. And this simple slogan had stuck with me ever since, a reminder of strength, of perseverance. I needed that now more than ever.

“I know. It’s just hard sometimes. To keep believing that we’ll win, that all this fighting will be worth it.” I understood her doubt. I had felt it too, many times. The battles, the losses, the betrayals—they wore on you, made you question if victory was even possible. But we had to keep going. If not for ourselves, then for those who had fallen along the way. “We will win,” I said, my voice firm. “Not because we’re stronger or more powerful, but because we’re fighting for something real. Something Marcus will never understand. He fights for control, for domination. But we fight for our people, for our future. And that’s something worth believing in.”

The reporter asks. For a moment, Micah is silent, and even through the screen I can see a foreign expression pass through his features but then he is back to being pure steel. “Regret is for the weak. Every decision I've made, every obstacle I've overcome, has shaped me into the man I am today. I'm not here to make friends or gain approval. I'm here to win. And in this game, you either win or you're forgotten.” As his words wash over me, a bitter smile makes way on my face.

He grills his voice cutting through the quiet, controlled but edged. I push myself up slowly, brushing my hands together as I shake my head. “I didn’t tell her she won’t win, I told her it’s okay if she doesn’t. Winning isn’t everything, Nathaniel.” I turn slightly, ready to walk away before this turns into something else, something I don’t have the patience for. “You should teach children to always aim to win,” he continues, and judging from his tone, it almost sounds like he is baiting me. “That way, they will always strive to be the best.”

Not yet. Not until I see him. Not until I read him. “You’ll find out when I get there,” I repeated. He exhaled softly, like he was slightly amused. “You always did like playing games,” he said. “And you always thought everything was a game,” I replied. “Maybe because it is,” he shot back. I didn’t respond immediately. This right here… This is exactly why I left. The constant need to win. To dominate. To twist everything into something else.

“Don’t over expect before even the competition started.” “I’m not over expecting. I’m stating the facts. Last time, we were a little careless so you won. It was your luck, but this time, I won’t let my team lose.” “Really? Then all the time you won was because you have luck?” “Edwin...” Ace’s face turned serious. “If you win one time out of hundred then it is luck, but if you are the champions all the time then it is hard work. We have talent.”

He took a deep breath and threw his head back as he tucked his hands inside his pockets. "Don't think about it, Knox. You have to keep trying. You need to win her heart back, and you can't give up, no matter what happens later," He said to himself before he turned and walked away from the beach, heading to where his car was parked...

Who knows, maybe he won against him long time ago. Even so, he still can't do it due to his pride. It is telling him that a win in a dirty game is not a reward but a curse. A curse telling him that no matter how best he did, he will just use trickery to win. Winning not square fair, it is but an act of a coward person. It is but an act of a foolish guy. It is but an act of a person who is afraid of loosing. No matter how best they are, no matter how good they have been, to win unjust is something that Lewis can't tolerate.
