Chapter 35 Aurora's POV "The winner is…." The coordinator paused then slanted a look at all of us, holding a smile whereas my innards burned with nervousness and anxiety. "The winner of this year's competition is… Aurora Mancini," He screamed and I fell to the ground, my eyes reeling in shock. My heart couldn't contain what he just announced, then I glanced at Matteo who was smiling with his teeth visible. He looked so excited and was heading my way.

The man paused, and I couldn't read him. There was something different about him. "The nominees are, Elle Marino, Victoria Dayton, Emory Black, Andrea Freeman, and Carina Rostov. The judges have chosen one of them. Let's find out which one it is." He opened up the envelope, and the expression on his face was already an answer. He walked to the microphone and stood behind it. "So, the winner is...." He paused again and there were whispers all around.

She deserved to win. “This year’s winners... in a tough competition... are a new team, but we hope they work together for many years to come. For ‘Canine Crusader,’ Memory Wilson and Dak Brooks!” Memory’s mouth gaped open as she turned to see the exact same expression on Dak’s face. “We won?” His arms were open wide, and she didn’t hesitate to throw herself into them. Her feet came off of the ground as he lifted her into the air and swung her in circles. A giddy sensation came over Memory, and for a few seconds, she felt carefree like a child, flying through the air. Except when Dak set her back down and she looked into his eyes, she didn’t feel like a little girl at all.

He motioned to James, and James hurriedly shouted out, “Quiet!” The lobby was already silent but now it was so quiet they could almost hear the sounds of each other’s breathing. “The final results for the assessment including the additional assessment will be announced now!” Olivia Finch said loudly. Everyone held their breath in anticipation. “I will only announce the top three winners who will join the Ackman Group. People whose names I call, please step forward.” “Nina Scott, Jennifer Wurst, Anna Hamilton!” Nina trembled, light bursting in her eyes. She hurriedly dragged Anna and stepped forward.

Mia lowered her eyes to conceal her true emotions at Shelly's words. She'd already signed the divorce papers; who Timothy wanted to cheer on and be with was none of her business. There were two more pairs as we waited patiently. Soon everyone were done. We were called upon the stage as the judge were coming to a decision. And finally they did. I anticipated for the decision. They started by the 3rd followed by the 2nd. My breathing became rigid as we weren't in either. "And the winner is...." the host dragged on. "Amelia and Ash." I was astonished and surprised. We actually won. I was so shocked that I didn't realize they were calling. Guess who is giving out the award. Damien. Ash was the first one to go. He shook his hands and congratulated him.

“I win. Because I brought you on an epic and rare date.” Jackson took my hand in his, chuckling. “You win.” He agreed at the exact moment that cheers rose all along us. I looked out of the window curiously, wondering who had won. William was further ahead than Thierry but it happens even with losers. The MC walked over to William and grabbed his arm, raising it above his head. “Winner!!!” He announced. I gulped. He did it. He made sure that he and Jackson would race in the finals.

Hazel fanned her face dramatically. “Ugh, they’re too perfect — it’s making me emotional!” Jordan crossed his arms. “Unfair advantage. Their romance is still hot off the press. Ours has been grilled, cooled, and reheated a dozen times.” Richard chuckled. “Doesn’t matter.
