Something changed in her eyes for a second. She recognized his name. Only Amara and Kai noticed it. The room became silent again. Then the woman softly said, “You survived.” Everything suddenly felt frozen. Kai looked truly shocked. Amara’s heart almost stopped. Kai asked, “You know me?” The woman tilted her head slightly and answered, “I know all of you.” That was not normal. Nathan slowly stepped back and whispered, “She was part of the upper division.” Victor immediately looked angry and warned, “Nathan.”

A nun said about an hour later. " What?." “She's dead, the woman is dead." “Oh." “Her daughter survived though and she named the baby before she passed." “What did she name her?." “Rainee."

His chest rises and falls in peaceful rhythm, his tiny fingers curled into fists. Tears blur my vision. Relief, overwhelming and painful, crashes over me. He’s here. He’s alive. “Is he okay?” My voice shakes. Michael nods. “It’s a miracle, but yes. He’s strong.” I exhale a broken breath. My son. Against all odds, he survived. There’s movement near the corner of the room. An older woman, elegant, with silver hair swept into a neat bun, steps forward hesitantly. Her eyes are kind, but filled with guilt. She clutches her hands together, as if unsure whether to approach.

she said sadly. “Hey don’t be sad, you should be happy as your mum is alive,” said Eden. “Althea is alive?” asked Wanda and Mateo in one voice. “Yeah she is,” said Eden. “Then why is she not here?” asked Wanda. “I am afraid we also don’t know,” said Julius. “She knew we were there but she did not have any reaction over that,” said Grace. “What’s the mystery behind this? How did she survive?” asked Alex.

I told them with sadness in my face, that cheerful woman had died. One of the men grabs her arm, but she resists: "I can walk alone. You really think I can outrun you in this hellhole?" It does not give them the opportunity to rebut, but it goes straight to the door. Confused as they are, men follow it. Staying in this hellish place for a year has taught me to be stronger and do what it takes to survive. To be invincible is what is needed to continue living in spite of everything that has happened.

I have to protect this woman who feels more like family than the ones I never met. I haven't understood how it happened. One moment I was in a taxi with a woman and the other I found myself on a deathbed. How I survived that bomb is a damn miracle. It seemed as if neither God nor the Devil wanted me anywhere near them, that is why I am still alive, I guess.

They had been through storms I couldn't yet imagine and were still standing, heels planted firmly beside the most powerful men in the room. "The trick," the silver-haired woman had told me as we stood by the windows overlooking Central Park, "is remembering that survival isn't the same as thriving. Too many women confuse the two." Her words had resonated in ways I was still processing. If they could do it, maybe I could too.

Victoria continuously wiped away her tears and tightly bit on her lips, making her crying sound. She gently held her hand in his slightly opened palm but she only lightly touched it and didn't dare to hold it. Afraid of getting the wound on his back, she had heard that he had fainted at the scene of the explosion, and had endured the force of the explosion at such a close distance. Now, most importantly, he had survived. Nothing was more important than this news. As long as he survived, she would never leave his side. She would take care of him and give him her life.

Neither of them liked silence or riddles, but unfortunately they had come to the wrong place if they wanted straight answers. After a long moment, the woman finally spoke. “She’s dead.” The men stared at her. Then she continued, “But she’s alive.” The taller man immediately frowned. “Which one is it?” “Both.”she answered. The shorter man’s patience was already wearing thin. “That makes absolutely no sense.” The woman tilted her head slightly. “Few truths do.” The taller man folded his arms across his chest. “Try again.” The veiled woman looked toward the body beside her. “She died.” She paused. “Yet she lives.” Another pause. “Her soul survives.”

I said. He stared at me for a long time. “You’re not the same girl I lost.” “I’m not the girl anyone lost,” I said softly. “I’m the woman who survived.” He left without another word. When I was alone, I sat down on the edge of my bed. The silence was deafening. But this time… it didn’t feel empty.
