The World Isn't Wrong It Just Is Novels & Stories

“There’s no karma. We live in a world without rules. The ruthless win.” He pauses, then adds more softly, “I’m not saying it’s wrong to be kind or good. The world needs kindness… just not at the cost of becoming someone’s weakness.” I chew on his words, slowly. They settle heavily in my mind “You’re a wise man,” I admit reluctantly, I can't help being honest. “I know.” “And a cocky one too.” “Tell me something I don’t know.” I smirk, but instead of engaging, I focus on my food. I chug down the last of it, letting the conversation die in the silence that follows.

But one truth becomes clearer with each envelope we open: The world isn’t one voice. It’s millions. And they’re all shouting over each other.

*** Just for a second. *** The world ahead wasn’t broken. *** It was undecided. *** Colors slightly off. Edges not fully committed. It was a small touch. But it stilled something inside me. “You’re not failing,” he said. The words were quiet. But they felt real. I looked up at him, my breath catching slightly at the closeness. “Then why does it feel like I am?” I asked. His hand didn’t move away. “Because this world doesn’t allow mistakes,” he said. “And you’re afraid of making one.” He wasn’t wrong. “I am,” I admitted. For a moment, neither of us moved.

"Forget it, I don't care about that crappy company anyway. You go contact your family elders again, get me introductions to a few more powerful werewolf organizations. I need to choose carefully. After all, I'm destined to be a great leader." "But! This current company, I'm going to make them take responsibility. Go find me two of the best wolf lawyers in the pack. I'm going to apply for arbitration with the Pack Elders. If they don't compensate me with a huge amount of soul crystals and territory resources, I won't let this go easily!" "Scarlett, say something! Are you mute? You need to get this done ASAP, understand? I can't just swallow this! This is about my dignity!"

It was as if the impact had knocked every wisp of air from my lungs, and I just lie here, mouth hung with lips slightly parted, my eyes are as wide as they could stretch. I feel like I am trying to remember how to breathe, totally stunned as the word bounces around inside my skull, like how it bounces when it runs: Horse! Horse! Horse! I shut my eyes as I shook my head. Of course, this is not true, right? He he. This is just a side effect of suddenly waking up in a different world, is it not?

'' "I am sorry, I am so sorry okay?" "Sorry? Will sorry sort everything out?" "It's already happened Lee" Evelyn said calmly "Oh you are all calm Evelyn, is there something I don't know about any of this, that I should know?" "Look it's my life Lee not yours okay? Am the one with the pregnancy, am the one who got pregnant not you okay? Don't you dare talk to me like that you hear me? I am not some kid anymore am a freaking adult." "An adult? Wow!! Okay then let's assume for a second that were true, what do you plan to do with it? Don't tell me you are going to keep it"

"Like we’ve cut ourselves off from the 'real' world?" He looked up, his eyes meeting mine with a clarity that silenced any lingering doubt. "The 'real' world is whatever you give your time to. If you give your time to noise, noise is real. If you give your time to this—to the soil, to the water, to us—then this is the real world. Everything else is just static."

It would never end. You can’t think like that. If you realise you’re wrong, you have to adjust, if you can. The people who look at you like you’re an idiot with no idea are closer to the truth than they know. They just don’t realise it doesn’t matter. That describes everyone. It doesn’t change anything. You have to act, and if you’re wrong, well, better luck next time. If there is a next time. “No,” I said. “I’ve changed my mind.”

"It is such a pity that you are easily fooled by the people of the world, in this world you see, and this life we live in, there is no right or wrong, is no standard policy or a criteria you have to meet up with another to qualify you to be doing the right thing, you said your own policy for yourself, you do what you feel is right for you, because that is the only way you are going to grow, we do what you believe is right nothing is going to wear you down, nothing is going to confuse you and take your eyes away from what you have learnt to be good for you, now open your eyes, rise again and look at the real world, look at what is really happening, forget about what anyone or any religion hav
