I traced the golden details of the book and it seemed to radiate life. But I guess it's just my imagination. I opened the book as I began to read. This time, my mind was slightly cleared that I was able to comprehend the words. Decades ago, in the kingdom of Thalia. A kind King and a loving Queen dwelled over the land. Everyone was content and happy. That was until they angered the Gods. It was a day where the kingdom's freshly harvested crops were washed out by a great flood. Almost all of the food was washed away and only a few were left, leaving the citizens of Thalia weak with starvation.

Captain Nora checked the weather scanner on her tablet. “No storm.” Samuel looked around uneasily. “Then what was that?” Elias answered quietly. “The Circle.” ⸻ Far beyond the forest, hidden beneath an immense mountain of white stone, seven empty thrones stood in perfect silence. For centuries, they had remained untouched. Now… One by one… Candles before each throne lit themselves. The first. The second. The third. By the time the seventh flame ignited, the chamber glowed with a soft golden light. The eighth throne remained dark.

I tell him. Flavius nods in response and begins to pack his things. I fill my satchel with various clothing items and few books. "Why are you packing books?" Flavius asks curiously. "Since we are visiting another horde without sending a messenger ahead, I need to bring something that will serve as a gift. Those of the Horde of Fates are known knowledge seekers. I have many books in my private collection that have not been seen since The Fires. They should serve as a suitable present," I say.

The Throne's Farewell The world was silent. For the first time in what felt like forever. No collapsing skies. No roaring horror. No shattered reality. Only peace. The giant eye was gone. To him, unlocking my legs posed no threat at all. “Alright… Annelise, you’re such a siren…” He eagerly took out the key. With the sound of metal, the restraints on my legs were unlocked. He tossed the chains aside, then leaned down impatiently, his hands moving greedily along my thighs. The moment he lowered his head toward my waist, my legs snapped up. They locked tightly around his neck. Lorenzo let out a cry, and he instinctively struggled. However, the strength I had built through years of fighting was not something a man weakened by indulgence could resist.

Otsana’s gold mark burned beside me, but its light bent toward the throne like a flame leaning toward wind. Ashina sobbed harder, gripping her stomach while Maelor’s heartbeat echoed through the black bone like drums beneath a coronation hall. The first Blood Feather book floated above the throne, no longer thrashing, no longer screaming, but opening itself like a servant obeying its true master. A circle of old blood appeared around the throne’s base, then spread outward until it touched Blackfang warriors and Northridge nobles alike. Conri shouted orders, but the blood ignored every blade, every title, and every frightened foot trying to step away.

The warriors escorting me led me through gates that could withstand a siege, past training grounds where dozens of wolves sparred with lethal efficiency, and into the main building itself.
