Thrown Away Book Novels & Stories

MERIDIAN CIVIC CENTRE — CALDER, EVELINA. I read it twice before closing the laptop. For a while, I just sat there with my hands flat against the desk. When I arranged the table a few days back, I kept it on top of the other books without paying much attention to it. I bought this novel mainly for entertainment, but I no longer needed it. I didn’t hesitate before dropping it into the trash by my desk. Some memories didn’t deserve a second chance.

Did mother leave something for me before she died? Of course, I am not stupid or daft. Something was up. I knew that I must have something of value to be highly sought after, but I didn't even know what that was. What a waste. I thought, gritting my teeth, flunging the book away from my chest in anger, watching as it landed on the floor even more gracefully than I had landed on the bed earlier, closing up itself gently, as if I hadn't just flung it away carelessly.

Of course everyone knew. I got to the apartment which doubled as our hostel and I wasn't even surprised to meet some of my loads outside. My so-called best friends took the time to pack my bags outside of the room. My paperback book collections were thrown outside like they were useless textbooks. My clothes, my bags, and the gifts Luca had given to me were being flung outside like they were trash. Books I'd saved for months to buy. Clothes I'd worn to our study sessions, our late-night talks, our stupid photo shoots. All of it was thrown out like it was garbage.

Ethan asked from the screen. "Inside the back cover of a journal Diana kept from twenty two years ago," Grace said. "It was folded and taped flat against the binding. We believe Diana discovered it, read it, kept it rather than destroying it, and never delivered it." She paused. "We do not know why she kept it." "Because destroying it felt like losing control of it," Ethan said. "My mother never destroyed anything she could instead contain."

" But there must be some or the other way through which we can get rid of this book”, I asked him “ Yes there is only one and single way to get rid of this book that is to burn it down but then your life won't be same as it was earlier and the incidence which have occurred with you during the reading of this book won't resurrect self for example if you are saying like you have lost your friend during reading of this book so if you want this book then most probably your friend is never going to come back”, he told me

Yet… even after all that security, I felt vulnerable and defeated as the memories of the people being slaughtered and sheer demonic violence rushed into my head as I leafed through the burnt pages of that book. The book was last rented by a girl preparing for the medical entrance exam to bring her family out of poverty and permanently shift to Arginieth to have a better life. Seems this was the last book she would ever rent. Not just her body, but her dreams and the future of her family buried under this debris with this book. I looked at the sky and took a deep breath. “What’s the point?” I mumbled to myself as I threw the book back into the mountain of debris, which had once been a temple

“You’re all idiots! I’m going to run a steel company someday. Don’t look down on a poor kid today! When I make it big, you’ll be the ones begging me.” The laughter paused for a split second, then erupted even louder than before. “Is he losing his mind?” “I knew something was off yesterday when he ignored the rich family and begged a scrap collector to adopt him.” “Steel company boss? More like the king of cardboard. Hahaha!” Simon stepped onto the pile of books and looked down at the classmates who were laughing at him. His gaze was filled with disdain. He casually ordered me, “Wesley, pick those books up for me.”
