It swallowed every other noise…the ticking clock, the lamp’s low buzz, even Chris’s heavy breathing. It swallowed the night. I turned toward him, terrified and frozen all at once. Star’s small body arched as if pulled by something inside him. His hands curled into claws. His back rose and fell like he couldn’t get enough air. I watched in shock as his eyes, once warm brown, bled into a bright, glowing gold.

Kat's POV I came so hard tears were rolling down my cheeks as I laid flat on the bed. He was still between my legs drinking me like he was on the brink of death and my nectar held the key to immortality. "Shaw" I whisper out feeling too dazed to form any other coherent thoughts.
