Marcus continued, watching Peter over the rim of his glass.
“The real reason,” Peter said, beginning to pace back and forth like a caged animal, “is to get in my way. He hates me and wants revenge.” He gestured aggressively. “I needed Karen, and that bastard stole her just to screw me over.” He paused, turning to face his father. “Or maybe they identified with each other,” Peter added with thick sarcasm, “because they grew up in the same place. Two lost orphans finding comfort in each other. How romantic.”
