Too Late To Beg
She was sitting up in bed, leaning against the pillows, staring at the wall.
"Tamsin," I said softly, sitting in the chair beside her bed. "How do you feel?"
She did not look at me for a long moment.
When she finally spoke, her voice was quiet and distant.
"Do you know what my biggest regret is, Leo?" she asked. "My biggest regret was ever meeting you back then. If I could go back and change things, I would do anything to make sure I never crossed paths with you in this life."
The words hit me like physical blows.
