Kai was the taller of the two, a solid 9'5", his broad shoulders packed with muscle. His dark, wavy hair was cropped short on the sides but left longer on top, framing sharp, high cheekbones and a strong jawline. His hazel eyes glowed faintly in the dim light, his pupils slightly slitted, giving him an almost predatory look. His teal tail was thick, powerful, coiling behind him, its scales gleaming under the lantern light. Every inch of him screamed power—an apex predator through and through. Koa was just as massive, standing at 9'3", his body slightly leaner but no less muscular. His long, inky-black hair was usually tied back, but now, a few loose strands framed his equally sharp features.

He says eventually, noises behind him reveal the blonde girl that Flame was arguing with earlier. “Oh please be Darius’ friend.” She grins, pushing the boy out of the way and extending her hand. “I’m Gale. Gale Winters.” “Cain Harden.” I shake her hand quickly before dropping it and turning to the boy again, attempting to be pleasant when I just want him to get the fuck out of my way. “Darius told me we were going Tree Surfing.”

I clench my jaw, then look at the two men in front of me; both imposing and tall with the air of Russian royalty about them. Two cadets were on the ground, one clutching a twisted wrist, the other unconscious. Gryphon was scrambling backward, his face a mask of sheer terror. And Kai. Kai stood over them, his knuckles bloody, his body radiating a power I had never fully seen. He was not the arrogant heir or the careful strategist in that moment. He was an avenging storm. He looked at Gryphon and delivered his message, a promise of violence that chilled the very air. Then he was climbing, a powerful, relentless motion that spoke of a fury barely contained.

Tobias was stretched out on the couch above us, one arm slung over the backrest like he owned the place. “He’s annoying,” Tobias muttered as the camera cut to a close up of Kai, who was yelling at the opposite team for foul play. “I hate him.” A few people snorted. “But,” he added begrudgingly, eyes glued to the screen, “he can play.” My chest tightened before I could stop it. The camera followed Kai as he jogged onto the field, helmet tucked under his arm, dark hair damp and pushed back from his forehead. His jaw was clenched in anger as the referee separated them.

“Maybe just watch from the side. I don’t want to make it weird for the team.” The studio was bright and busy. White backdrops, big lights, and people moving everywhere. Kai stood in the middle wearing an open white shirt and dark jeans, the phoenix tattoo clearly visible. The photographer, a tall guy named Nico with messy hair and a loud voice, circled him. “Chin up a bit more,” Nico called. “Yeah, like that. Give me that ‘I know I’m hot’ look. Perfect.” Kai shifted his weight. “Like this?”

he growled and tackled me on the bed such that I was giggling and squirming under him and he was hovering on top of me. “What are you doing, Ty Jackson ?” I chuckled. “I thought I hurt you and I was worried sick. Seems like you were only completing your beauty sleep,” he snickered. “Awww. You were worried about your mate ?” I teased. “Shut up,” he gruffed. “Ty, what you did was really hot but weren’t you afraid that I would crack a bone or two,” I nervously chuckled. “I am an Elemental Dragon, Kai. I can control earth and nature, babe. So, I would never let you get hurt,” he softly said and kissed me so gently that it seemed like if he put any extra force, he would break me.

Chapter Six ~A predator watches. Observes it's prey as time passes to determine the best way to kill ~ KAI He turned around and my breath caught my throat. His torso was a huge contrast to his back. It was clean, toned and looked like something that was carved with a chisel. Except for the crest mark sitting beautiful at his waist. My eyes shamelessly wrecked through him, taking in every inch of his body that was outside the water. I should look away. I had no business checking him out like that.

“They're going to get out. I give you my word. I'm going to get them out for you.” “Tatiana…” She ran before he could stop her. He couldn't even get up if he wanted to. He watched as she ran. Into the fire. Toward Damon. Toward Evelyn. Toward death. Kael screamed her name, tried to get up, but the blood loss pulled him down. The last thing he saw before darkness took him was her figure engulfed by flames. End of Flashback. I gasped, my body jerking forward, but Kael’s hand remained steady.

Her elbow moved reflexively and struck his chin. Then, she booted him in his groin, earning a groan from him. "Bitch!" Trevor howled in pain. He clamped his hands between his thighs and fell to the ground. "That'd teach you never to sneak up on me," Kira glared, her knees collided with his face, and she raised her hands in the air. "Never underestimate what I can do!" Trevor moaned, and the ground tilted underneath him. His head reeled and pounded as a splitting headache surged into him.
