Still, she held on tight, dragging the stuffed wolf behind her as she skipped around the store, looking at everything else. Ben and Alice followed behind her, smiling as she darted from one shelf to the next, her attention caught by every shiny new toy. It wasn’t long before her arms were filled with even more treasures—a tiny unicorn figurine, a sparkly princess crown, and a toy sword that she proudly declared made her a “warrior princess.” After the toy store, they moved on to a boutique filled with colorful dresses and cute outfits. I forgot about him after a few minutes, and he just let us be. We went into one of my favorite stores on the Promenade, a toy shop that has everything, from all your regular Barbies and toys to giant statues of Star Wars characters. There were hundreds of different models, antique dolls with beautiful dresses, chess sets painted to mimic Alice In Wonderland and Star Trek characters, Japanese sci-fi mecha, and all sorts of crazy foreign toys. We went in several funky clothing shops, a couple of bookstores, and the Apple store, too. When Connor saw me playing with a $2500 laptop, he asked, “You like it?”

Do that, pick a plush for yourself, a gift from me. I smile and he looks at me half without believing, but still shrugs and looks at the plush options he has. ' Hailey hands me a lipstick. 'You should try this colour.' She smiles. We end up with a handful of makeup in a basket, before trying to find something for Ace. In the toy section, Hailey puts a clown mask on and grabs a noisy toy gun, pretending to shoot me, while I dance to the song playing in the store. Jack and Ace roll their eyes when they find us in the toy section. I grab Hailey’s hand and we run a few aisles up, giggling. We look at racing cars, skateboards, boardgames and other items. We come across the camping section and pull out two chairs and make ourselves comfortable, in the middle of the aisle.
