That part of me that wanted to prove that I was very much worth it, was striving to be dominant. Alpha Vincent had just given me a challenge, one that I knew would transform my life. I was Rylee Shaw, the exiled omega whose life had fallen apart. I was willing to get my life back. I was willing to win. Most importantly, I was willing to develop wings and spread them.

All of them looked as shocked as Seren when she saw me, the only difference is, I didn't share that shock with them. Instead, I already started to question if I was alive and this was my hell. A depiction of what I was supposed to suffer for eternity. "You're awake, thank God ," Zander commented, sounding a bit relieved but the look on his face said otherwise. "What happened?" I asked, hoping that someone would actually answer me so that I could get a better picture of what happened. "You tell us. You're the one that Exile took off with after killing our men." Ryder spat.

Still, she held on. The Exile writhed in the flood. Its form splintered, shadows tearing away like flesh in a storm. The red embers of its eyes flickered, guttered, but still it fought. Tendrils whipped through the torrent, snaring wolves, dragging them into coils of darkness that tried desperately to rebuild themselves. Each wolf snapped and tore until they burst free, silver exploding from their jaws. “You will not cut me out!” the Exile roared. Its voice fractured, desperate, no longer commanding but pleading. “Without me, you are hollow. Without me, you are nothing but beasts!”

I said. "Prison keeps you in against your will. This keeps threats out while you train." She looked at me. "Perspective matters, Elena. You can see this as exile and become bitter. Or you can see it as opportunity and become stronger. Your choice." The transformed warriors emerged from their vehicle, looking around warily. They were recovering from their forced transformations. Learning to live with integrated death they had not chosen. And now they were here, in exile alongside me, because councils feared what they had become.
