Even as a soul, the fear of being imprisoned was still deeply ingrained in my mind. Yoel covered his nose in disgust, squinting from the unbearable stench of the corpse. It’s a trap that makes you love your cage.”

She'd built something more frightening: a cage with very specific dimensions and very specific exits, and the exits were real, and that was somehow the most alarming thing about it. Just as he had hoped, the lock popped open and the trap released. "Yes!" He said to himself as he reached inside and gently lifted the ancient book from its prison, while taking great pains not to damage it.
