CHAPTER 57

Layla's POV

He was glowing, the wolf was glowing! It was in broad daylight, and yes, he was! I gasped when I saw him this way, and even though I didn't know what it meant or why everyone was kneeling, I was surprised.

As I watched in surprise, even the Luna Queen dropped to a knee, even though she had a look to kill on her face. Her daughter's expression remained unreadable, you know, with the stupid veil on.

The wolf suddenly began to shapeshift slowly, and as the fur and paws, and claws disappeared, the fine body of a man took its place until he was finally standing before everyone in his human form. Prince Derek had saved me... again.

Derek only had a pair of jean shorts on and was shirtless and barefoot. His long hair was cut short, giving him a more serious look, and for the first time, I noticed a tattoo on his left breast, some kind of a paw shapees tattoo.

Was I only imagining it, or was Derek looking even hotter than ever?! The real question, though, was when the f

CHAPTER 59Layla's POVI suddenly found myself crashing through the forest on all fours. Where was I going? What was I doing? It suddenly began to flood back, and the last thing I remembered was Derek offering me his hand, and then everything had gone blank from there.I came to a stop willingly and realized that I finally had control of my body again. I was in wolf form and didn't even know when I had transformed, so I willed myself back into human form. For some reason, my whole body ached and ached badly too. I tried to move forward but stumbled and caught myself with the help of a tree before I could collapse. That damn wolf! Sapphire was behind this again!“Why?” I forced out the word. “Why do you keep doing this? What exactly do you want, Sapphire?!” I yelled angrily. There was no reply.I really hadn't figured out which side of the wolf I hated most. Was it the quiet side or the angry one? I really couldn't decide.I just realized that I was really hungry and thirsty, too. I nee

CHAPTER 58Derek's POVShe was having conflicting emotions. I could see the struggle in her eyes. I could see that she was struggling with it, she was trying to fight it, and all I wanted to do was to help her. All I wanted to do was help her fight it together when..Her hazel eyes suddenly turned blood red and and a growl escaped her throat. Before any of the guards could realize what was going on, Layla turned and jumped cleanly over their heads, only to crash some distance away in the forest. I saw her quickly switch into her wolf form, and she sped up.The guards turned to look at me questionably, and I nodded, permitting them to make chase, but even as they went after her, I knew that they wouldn't catch her. I knew where she was going, and I would get her.“You let her escape!” My stepmother screamed angrily and took a step forward as if she was going to slap me. “You let your father's murderer escape!”I ignored her and turned to the pack again.“Bloodwood pack!” I spoke in a l

  • The Luna Queen's Blood Oath   Chapter 56

CHAPTER 56Layla's POVThe haziness that surrounded me when I first woke up was finally beginning to clear, and the dullness, together with it, too. I could finally see clearly again and.. oh my…A man stood next to me dressed all in black with a mask covering his face, and the most terrifying thing about him was the long and broad double-edged sword he held firmly with its tip stuck into the ground. My eyes went over the sea of angry faces again, it seemed the whole pack had gathered right there on the outskirts of the city to witness the show the Luna Queen was putting on for them.My hands were roughly pulled to my back and tied securely behind the post. The reality of the situation suddenly began to sink in, and I began to panic.“Wh.. what's going on?” I asked even though I already knew the answer I was going to get.“Your crimes are finally catching up with you.” The Luna Queen sneered. “You are finally going to pay for all you've done. For all you've been doing since the day yo

  • The Luna Queen's Blood Oath   Chapter 55

CHAPTER 55Derek's POVIt was with intention and great determination that I strolled down the hallway and straight towards the meeting room. It was strange that the hallways were kinda deserted except for a few guards who looked surprised to see me but I didn't give much thought to this.My blood boiled with rage as I walked. Somehow, I regretted sparing Evelyn when I had her in my grasp. I should have killed the witch when I had the chance!I finally turned a corner and arrived directly in front of the door. I didn't hesitate to throw the door open, but alas, the room was empty…Where were they? Where had they gone? I knew they were people here not too long ago; I could perceive their scents all over the place.I turned and approached a nearby guard.“My stepmother and the Councilors... where did they go?” I asked.“My Prince.. They are outside on the outskirts of the city. To execute the... the princess.”My heart froze immediately at his words. That could only mean Layla! My stepm

CHAPTER 54Derek's POV“She's the key, Derek…”“She's the key.”“She's the key…”“You must activate that key!”Those words kept playing over and over blindly in my head until I snapped out of it and sat up abruptly.I was in my bed, but one look at the bedside table told me that Healer Tega was at work here. There was a pole stationed right next to my bed where a blood bag was attached, linked straight to my arm while an EKG beeped on the table.I was alone at the time I woke up and it wasn't long before the memories came flooding back.I sat up with a groan and tore the needles from my hand. My whole body still felt sore somehow, but I believe I was somehow better now. I was just trying to get out of bed when the door opened, and Healer Tega walked in with a clipboard in his hand with his face buried in it.“Ah.. My Prince! You're awake!” He smiled when he looked up and saw me. “Wasn't expecting you to wake up today.”“How long?” I asked. “How long was I out for?”“Roughly..” He chec
