Echoes of Moonfire
I kept going and then, I heard a sound: a guttural, grinding growl that made the marrow in my bones quiver.
I froze.
From between two trees, a shape lumbered into view. Massive, shoulders hunched, tusks glinting in the weak moonlight. A troll. Its hide was thick and gray, like stone carved into flesh, its eyes small and burning like coals. Another emerged beside it, then another, their footsteps pounding the earth. It was huge, they reminded me of the trolls I met in Raven’s underground wrestling ring only that these ones were more wild, unpredictable and predatory.
