The group of over twenty people continued to wave their weapons in an attempt to split the branches. Unfortunately, not only did numerous branches attack them, but the power contained within the branches was also quite terrifying. After a while, nearly half of the group had perished due to the branches’ attacks. Only Otes and five Transformation warriors were able to make it to the space’s entrance in the end. When they looked up at the massive tree, they noticed the gruesome corpses of their peers dangling on the treetop. Grief was apparent on their faces when they saw this scene. Yet, they didn’t have the luxury of mourning for them at the time.

I nodded vigorously before running off after the warriors. I approached a clearing and found the half dozen warriors looking toward thick bushes. They were all on high alert, and I could hear twigs snapping and the ruffling of branches in front of them. Someone was definitely there, but who? Was it our people or the rogues coming back for us?

She eyed the thorn bush warily, noticing that one of the spiny objects had gotten a hold of Twigfur and buried itself into his skin, causing his shoulder to bleed, "I'm going to lift this bush, but, it's going to hurt once the thorn unlatches itself. Move as quickly as you can once you're free." Twigfur was ready to argue when he thought better of it. Instead, he braced himself for the pain that would follow as Furzewhisker gripped the branch by using her teeth. Carefully, she pulled upwards, lifting until the thorn unlatched itself, tearing at his skin further. The tabby let out a screech of pain moments later before sprinting from the bush, nearly colliding into Harewhisker in the process.

All the ministers stood up at once, worry and anxiety taking over them. The only two people who remained calm in this chaotic situation were Dimitri and Commander Kristoff who had been silent since the time he had entered the courtroom. He had long predicted this outcome and he knew that war was what it took for Dimitri to learn his lesson. He also knew that it was impossible for Dimitri to win against Eldrick. So, he did not show any reaction as he waited for the drama to end. "Then, I, Cathal Bringe, the messenger of peace from Volar, with the power bestowed upon me by the kingdom of Volar and Lord Eldrick, declare that the kingdom of Volar is at war with the kingdom of Hollis."

The golden lion was reluctant to let go of the broad knife. Woosh! Chu Xun stepped out. He came to the branch, grabbed the branch with both hands. He gave a low shout, and the blue veins bulged in his arms, and the purple lights surged. Click! The branch was torn in the middle by Chu Xun. The only path left was blood. “Very well then,” I growled. “You asked for it.” I lifted my hand, and my warriors stepped out of the bushes, one after the other. Their eyes gleamed with deadly intent, their focus locked on the same goal, end this, and bring our Luna’s sister home. My eyes hardened on the man’s face as my warriors emerged from the trees. He didn’t look shaken. The rest of his men had already positioned themselves, guns raised, bodies tense. It was practiced, an ambush long prepared.

Adrian swung his gun toward the stairwell. “Strike squad! They’ve found us!” Dozens of shadows surged upward hunters in silver armor, moving too fast and, too precise to be human. Crowe tilted his head slightly, silver light flashing in his eyes. “Not mine. They’re Silver Hounds bio-soldiers bred by Dr. Alaric.” Evelyn sprang up, thumbed the safety, and let three rapid rounds fly. One creature toppled, but instead of red the blood shimmered silver, hissing as it slicked across the concrete.
