Rogues poured in from the tree line like shadows brought to life—dozens of them, maybe more, spilling forward with terrifying speed. They’d appeared almost out of nowhere, slipping past the outermost sensors while everyone’s attention was fixed on the border. The distraction had worked. The warrior regained energy as soon as he saw the rogue standing next to him with ferocious growls coming out of its lips. "Didn't you break your spine?" I asked, my voice filled with laughter as the warrior screamed, unable to run away anymore. The rogue's presence held him down without magic.

As we descended into the subterranean colosseum, the noise became overwhelming. Two thousand warriors filled the stone tiers of the cavern. These were the Shadow Warriors—the battle-scarred outcasts of the Dead Woods. They were alphas, betas, and omegas who had been rejected by their birth packs, criminals who had survived the brutal winter wilderness, and veterans of forgotten border wars. They didn't wear uniforms; they wore heavy furs, iron chains, and leather straps over bodies covered in jagged claw scars. They were savage, and radiated a volatile pressure.
