His thoughts spun like a storm June’s words, Audrey’s voice, the bitter taste of doubt creeping into his throat.
He couldn’t take it anymore.
He unlocked his phone and scrolled through his contacts until he reached one name: Mark Asiedu, his longtime friend, former business partner, and one of the few people who had been around during the early days of his marriage to June.
Larry hesitated. His thumb hovered. Then he tapped.
The line rang once, twice, three times.
“Larry?” Mark’s voice came through, surprised but calm.
“I need to talk,” Larry said, breath short, tone flat. “And I need you to be honest with me. No games, Mark. No filters. Just tell me the truth.”
