Lyssa led us on a path that was clearly not the main road, something that twisted through the hills and made it harder for the creatures to predict where we were going.
By the time we reached the fortress, I was exhausted beyond measure.
But the fortress was real. We could see it now, nestled in a valley, and it was being actively occupied. We could see structures being built around it, buildings that definitely weren't human design. And we could see creatures moving around the compound, maybe twenty or thirty of them, going about tasks that I couldn't quite understand.
"They're building something," Solace said, echoing my thoughts. "Some kind of... tower?"
