The screen lighted and I wasted no time in going to my contact list and tapping on her name, I waited with bated breath as it rung once, twice, thrice and then she picked, "I'm surprised you still have my number," Her familiar voice drawled and my shoulder sagged. Danciana's POV: I dialed Dylan's number with a mix of anticipation and anxiety, my heart pounding in my chest. As the phone rang, I anxiously tapped my fingers on the edge of my desk. "Come on, pick up," I whispered under my breath. Dylan's voice finally crackled through the line. "Hello?" he answered, sounding slightly out of breath. I copied it, pasted it on my dialer, and called him immediately. It rang for a few moments before he finally picked up and said, “Hello.”

Darian’s hand moved decisively toward the phone once again. He dialed, not impatiently this time, but with purpose. Each number pressed was deliberate. Each pause is measured. The receiver clicked as the line began to ring. He didn’t speak. He just watched the phone, fingers lightly tapping the desk, mind racing. Finally, the line was picked up. “Hello?”
