Unknown Caller Arielle didn’t remember pressing the call button. She only remembered staring at the empty space where Daniel’s number used to be saved… and then deciding she didn’t need it. She knew it. Her fingers moved on instinct. Nine digits. Her heart thudded violently in her chest as the phone rang. Once. Twice. Three times— It clicked. Arielle straightened on the bar stool, suddenly breathless. “Hello.” That voice. Deep. Smooth. Controlled.

My fingers flipped through the pages until I found what I was looking for — two names scribbled neatly at the bottom: Jessie Monterra and Dalia Reyes. Each name had a phone number beside it. I didn’t know who I was looking for, so I took both. Once I was in my car, I dialed one of the numbers. A few rings later, a soft, feminine voice answered. “Hello? Good morning. This is Dalia speaking.” My pulse spiked. That voice… I knew it. “Good morning,” I said, keeping my tone professional. “I’m calling from Daniels & Co. Law Firm. May I confirm if this is Ms. Dalia Reyes?”

"Save our souls." I snatched the phone back up and read it over. "D for Damien. And SOS is a call for help, then C means what? Who knows?" My eyes went wide as I looked around the dark room then back at the screen. "Raymond's phone hasn't been connected and the number clearly sent for help and it's not connecting either. Oh my God! Raymond!"

Where was Manang Lerma when I needed her? “I’m outside now,” I told Dalia. “Already?” “Yes, why—” Before I could finish, the line crackled. The background noise on her end got louder, and I couldn’t make out what she was saying. I frowned. “Hello? Dalia?” “Just wait there, okay? I’ll be quick.” “Okay. You’re out of traffic now?” No answer. I checked my phone—she’d hung up. I huffed, fanning myself again. No goodbye? She must really be in a hurry.

He began pacing slowly. “When it started. When it was first heard of. Every contract they’ve taken. Everything.” He strode toward a large table across the room, lined with bottles of whiskey. “Okay, sir,” Andrea responded. “You can leave,” Dante commanded. ' Vicky exclaimed inwardly as she dialed the unknown number with trembling fingers. Beep! Beep! Beep! The phone was answered right away.

The list was endless. But then one stood out vividly from the rest and for some reason what Jerome said to him earlier rang in his head. In this particular section, there were no pictures only code names and a list of scenarios with the same phone numbers printed in front of it throughout the page with different codes. One was written as, ‘Need backup, or in danger dial number and say this code....otherwise they are watchdogs’. A deep frown creased his forehead as his mind ran through possibilities. “Watchdogs, huh?” he muttered under his breath, and save the number in this phone, using the alphabetical code to store it.

As she said that, she dialed the number on the phone. On the other end, she heard, “The number you have dialed is no longer in service.”
