Didn’t hear if I was scared, hurt, or furious. I stared at their retreating figures, Yvonne’s delicate frame leaning against his side, as they vanished beyond the station doors. Unwilling to accept it. A low chuckle snapped me out of my daze. "See?" The officer smirked, tapping his pen against the desk. "Told you he wouldn’t pick you." I froze, unable to refute. My wolf, usually calm, let out a low growl inside me. But when Alpha Jackson pursued me, he promised—he promised he would love me wholeheartedly.

It shattered into pieces, the sound echoing through the empty house like his breaking heart. Ryan sank into a chair, burying his face in his hands. His shoulders shook as the weight of his actions crashed down on him. What kind of mate was he? What kind of Alpha? He was a beta after all; taking away a few non-elite guards was nothing to him. I pulled Silas closer, and he just let me go with a cold look on his face. He ordered my imprisonment as he turned his back against me, I thought I didn’t hear clearly until his supposed guards pulled me up and started yanking me but I struggled as I pleaded for my life. I had no idea what would happen to me in the dungeon and I didn’t want to find out. “Please, please Mr Alpha,” I cried, “I’m sorry, really sorry for coming into your territory disrespectfully, I’m sorry for being your mate– whatever that means, I’m really sorry for all this, Sir Alpha, please. Just let me go, please, I beg of you, I promise not to ever set foot here again forever just please let me go.” I pleaded but he didn’t turn to look at me.

I muttered, stifling a sob, "Why're you doing this to me? Yesterday, you said you would...." He shoved me and wasn't merciful with the might he utilized at all. I fell to the ground miserably in that instant. I struggled to sit up and all I saw were people already making fun of me, taking pleasure in my predicament. The Alpha was now facing me. Maybe I saw wrong, but there, for a moment, was a trace of regret in his eyes, but it was quickly gone in a flash. "Alpha," even though I knew how high the odds were that he wasn't going to change his mind, I still latched on to his leg as he tried to leave.

He paused for a moment, his eyes filled with a hint of sadness, "But deep down, I still have feelings for her. It's been years since we last saw each other, but her memory still haunts me.
