I hiss. Swiping my hair off my shoulder and pulling it into a knot at the nape of my neck, I try to formulate a plan. I am so lost in my thoughts that I don’t notice Vesper has knelt down beside me. His fingers are dangerously close to my neck. I swat his hand away and jump to my feet. “What the fuck are you doing?” “There is a bite on your neck,” he whispers. I cover the bite with my hand. I had forgotten all about it. “It is how Lycans mark their mates.”

Kai leaned in and sucked on his mark by my neck, causing jolts of pleasurable shivers run down my spine. “Mhmm Kai !” I moaned as I obliged to his silent need for more access and threw back my head. I fisted his hair as he traced the entire length of my neck with his active lips and moaned my life away as he nipped and bit everywhere that his hot lips touched. While Kai had his way with me, I cracked open an eye and watched the Vampire King intently. As he relaxed, I got up abruptly with the needle I had just taken from Bernice's dresser. The needle was not very big, but it was sharp enough, and I had five of them. I was passing by a bronze door when I heard some straining noises coming from the room. "Is everything okay?" I asked and the groans increased. The person sounded like they were in immense pain and could die anytime soon. Without thinking, I barged into the room and saw Xena on the ground. Face red, clutching onto the side of her neck as she cried in pain. "Xena!" I screamed in horror and I went to her on the ground. I carried her to sit up and I took her hands off her neck. It looked like it was been scratched countless times.

Minutes passed unnoticed, and it was only when dizziness clouded my vision that I realized my clothes were soaked in blood. The vampire's bite had left a deep gash on my neck, and I was rapidly losing an alarming amount of blood. Desperately, I tried to stem the flow, pressing my hand against the wound, but my efforts proved futile.
