The Billionaire's Secret Marriage

The Billionaire's Secret Marriage

Yet, there lingered an unspoken tension, a magnetic pull that both intrigued and unnerved Victoria. One evening, while exploring the mansion for potential wedding locations, Victoria stumbled upon a door tucked away in a secluded corridor. Its ornate design stood in stark contrast to the muted elegance of the rest of the house. The door, seemingly untouched for years, begged to be opened. As she turned the handle, the door creaked open, revealing a room frozen in time. Victorian-era furniture adorned the space, and the walls were adorned with sepia-toned photographs. Victoria's eyes widened as she realized the room was a shrine, a memorial to a love lost in the passage of time.

The Duchess's Desire

"Are we going to address the rather intriguing figure of James Parker*loitering in shadowed corners, or are we going to pretend your little midnight rendezvous on the balcony never happened?" Victoria arched a perfectly sculpted brow. "You should write novels, Catherine. Your imagination would keep London's publishing houses in business for decades." Catherine smirked. "I'd have to change the names, of course. The Duchess and the Servant might cause quite the scandal." "Enough," Victoria said sharply, though the corner of her mouth twitched with amusement. The door creaked open then, and a tall figure strode in with an air of practiced arrogance. Lord Alexander Windsor entered uninvited, his

Suddenly they're talking about the equinox festival, and I'm spared. "You can always change your major again," Harvey says. "Yeah, I'm thinking I'll give history a go again." "What part of history would you most want to learn about?" I set my fork on the rim of my plate. "The Victorians, probably, and not just because this is a very Victorian town, and I live in a very Victorian house." He asks, "What is it about them?" "Their attention to detail, obsession with death, misuse of poisons, gothic novels — they're so theatrically strange. I think it'd be fun."

he coughed, his eyes alight with the tales of the past, “Queen Victoria’s reign began in 1837. She was the second-longest reigning Queen of England, coming just behind the current matriarch, Queen Elizabeth II. The Victorian Era is most notable – in my humble opinion – for its rapid advances in technology. This was the time of trains, of the London Underground, of vaccines and of cures and of education.” I kept my eyes focused on the powerpoint slide as he spoke. I agreed with him, to an extent – the Victorian Era had been incredible, awe-inspiring. But it had also brought with it death, in the crowded, smog-filled cities, and in its factories, with tiny children working from young ages. He

Such an exciting read so far! I am enjoying getting to know our main characters and discovering how their lives have come together while trying to anticipate what might happen next as each chapter is released. A fantastic second novel, with a refreshingly different tone from the previous entry. The mythologies in this are very well developed and I am very excited to see how the story unfolds! The protagonist and her love interest and very engaging too and I am rooting hard for them!
