Novel & Cerita Virginia Woolfe

JANE The vodka from last night sat in my stomach like a brick. I'd spent three hours listening to some investment banker drone on about his divorce while I nodded and smiled behind my mask, pouring drinks and pretending to care. The tips were good, but my head was killing me. I rounded the corner to the social sciences building and heard Professor Vaughn's voice carrying through the closed door. That particular tone meant he was already mid-lecture. "Fuck," I mouthed, checking my phone. Twenty minutes late.

Ava's POV I shifted in the bed but I couldn't feel my husband's warm body close to mine. Perhaps he went down to drink something to help him sleep well. He often had insomnia. I walked down the stairs to get some milk, I felt a bit uneasy and my wolf has been restless for some time now. I had gone for a run and tried so many things to calm her down, but they didn’t work. Sage was sitting on the stool in the kitchen, drinking some milk.

Rafaella Moretti. I didn’t need an introduction. I’d seen her photo in the same file that showed Dante’s grainy silhouette, though the black-and-white surveillance shot hadn’t done her justice. She looked sharper in person — like someone who had trained her smile to cut. Her dark hair fell in waves over one bare shoulder, and her dress was the color of dried blood. A thin gold chain circled her throat, but unlike my collar, hers was a choice. Her eyes scanned me in a single sweep.

Virginia was the daughter Freya's stepmother had with another man before she seduced Freya's father and became his second wife. Virginia had been raised by Freya's step-aunt, but Freya's stepmother never failed to send her a generous monthly allowance. After Freya's stepmother died, that income disappeared. Freya's step-aunt began treating Virginia as an unwanted burden and eventually abandoned her. Determined to uncover the truth about her past, Virginia worked tirelessly to gather information. After learning who she really was, she fabricated a story about being the victim of severe bullying to catch Frank's attention. Frank went ballistic. He grabbed her arm and growled, "You lied to me!"
