After One Night
I confessed, and the tears I’d been holding back finally poured down like rain.
“What! Ella, no, please tell me that’s not true,” Maya gasped, moving closer to sit across from me.
I had lied to Jordan, and even to myself, pretending I was still a virgin, convincing myself I hadn’t been violated. I felt guilty for lying, but what was I supposed to say the first time I saw Jordan? “Hi, I’m not a virgin because I was raped, so run away from me while you can”? It sounded ridiculous.
Maya kept rubbing my back, trying to comfort me, when a loud knock came at the door.
