The heavy, reinforced iron doors of the royal palace swung open. Natalia walked out onto the grand balcony, her silver-white hair catching the full, blinding glare of the sun. She wore the formal Coronation armor of the United Sea and Land Empire—a seamless synthesis of dark, titanium-weave plates and shimmering white-gold filigree. Across her shoulders hung a magnificent cloak of midnight blue, pinned with the newly forged crest: a roaring Lycan wolf gripping a three-layered compass rose.

I said, with a smirk on my face and moved away from the mirror, I picked up a black leather pants and a tight black shirt. The next moment, I was dressed. My hand found its way to my face as I touched my scar.

I was human. “What potion do you use on your skin in the morning? I’ll make sure to pack it.” Mother said, looking around at a small mirrored table across from my bed. “It doesn’t matter. My skin is dull and lifeless no matter what I do. I guess now I know it’s because I am a human.” I cried louder.

The warrior stood nearly a head taller than Kael, his silver armor covered in ancient symbols glowing faintly beneath layers of dust and blood. A long cloak hung from his shoulders. His face remained hidden behind an ornate helm shaped like a wolf. Yet despite the armor concealing his identity, something about him felt familiar. Ancient.
