Voyager Course: Oblivion Novels & Stories

The whispers on the Echo network grew stronger, morphing from faint echoes into a cacophony of torment. Suddenly, the Unfathomable lurched violently, alarms blaring red. They were caught in a gravitational anomaly, the ship pulled towards a colossal singularity, a point of no return. Panic threatened to engulf the crew, but Lyra, her voice steady and unwavering, rallied them.

Their destination, the Flowing Abyss, was fraught with danger, and it remained to be seen how many would make it back alive from this perilous voyage. A sudden voice shattered the romantic atmosphere that had followed the storm. "There's an island ahead!" The charts confirmed what lay before them—the Flowing Abyss, their destination, was finally visible and only about 10 kilometers away. The crew erupted in cheers, elated by the prospect of reaching their goal after such a fierce storm. However, Alexander, still recovering his strength, remained apprehensive. The arrival came sooner than expected. He had only regained about 30 percent of his energy. The Flowing Abyss, a notorious graveyard f

Ova. Charlie: What da bludclaat... is that a man on the top of a ship waving at us?? Tango: We na seein what you are talking about Charlie but we receive ordas from mission control to engage. We can't have unknown ships on our Waters that refuse to communicate. [Meanwhile at the Court Of Villains]

It sounded like the crunching of fragmented glass, mixed with a deep, good-tural breath that had absolutely nothing biological in itself. “Whatever is up there,” Nova said, and her chewing gum chewing became noticeably slower. “It has eaten the crew a long time ago.” I stared at the trudging wreck in the hologram. My left hand, fresh from the abyssal healers had been connected, in the cycle of my heartbeat. We had crossed the endless ash hull. We had the floating islands saved and broken the absolute zero. We were up to the deepest reason the oceans dipped. There was only one limit we hadn't crossed.

"But there is a 'Black Note' at the edge of our solar system. It’s not a signal, and it’s not a ship. It’s a Vacuum." Sarah touched the Living Glass of the primary console. The 1956 Rose, now a massive crystalline tree at the heart of the station, pulsed with a warning amber—the color of a dying sun. "It’s the Oblivion Protocol, Jojo. The Architects didn't tell us about the 'Rejectionists.' There are those who believe that 'Harmony' is a form of spiritual death—a cage made of music. They don't want to join the Choir; they want to silence the singer."

The white vessels, once so clinical and perfect, started to vent atmosphere, their hulls buckling as the violet energy forced its way into their engines. “You’re killing us all,” Vane hissed, reaching for a manual override. Kael didn't stop him. He couldn't. He was watching the silver lines reach his heart. He saw the sequence for the self-destruct clearly now, glowing in his mind like a map to a home he would never see again. It wasn't just a command; it was a symphony of destruction that required a conductor. “The cycle doesn't end with a reboot,” Kael whispered, the gray in his eyes flaring into violet. “It ends with a crash.”

When I gave up on my mission and confessed to the existence of the system, my girlfriend, who couldn’t seem to give up on her first love, suddenly agreed to marry me and bear me a child. I thought my sincerity had moved her and excitedly began preparing for the wedding. She, however, tricked me into going for surgery. “You’re on a mission and have unlimited lives. He has end-stage heart failure and is on the verge of death. Don’t worry, after his surgery and recovery, I’ll come back to our family and continue helping you with your mission.” What she didn’t know was that the moment she took my heart away, I had utterly failed my mission and all my memories were erased. One month later,

"Rendezvous in sixty seconds. Get your clothes on. The Council doesn't like surprises." Abram rolled off Elara, his movements sluggish and pained. He leaned against the opposite wall, his eyes fixed on the tablet. "The virus," he wheezed. "Is it finished?" "The core is gone," Elara said, pulling her clothes back together with shaking hands. "Sloane is blind. But that just means he’s going to start swinging in the dark." The submersible breached the surface with a violent lurch. The hatch hissed open, revealing a massive, floating platform in the middle of a black, churning sea. High-intensity floodlights blinded them, the white glare reflecting off the rain-slicked deck.

And it was about to wipe out three nascent civilizations living in its system. The Weavers would likely write it off as a tragic, but dramatically useful, event. A cleansing fire. We would not. "Set a course," I said, my voice steady for the first time since the Loom. "We're going in." The Astropheles, fueled by our new, defiant purpose, leaped towards the cataclysm.
