"Now I'm curious." "I took Madeline…" She kicked his feet under the table. "We're keeping the waitress waiting." "Oh." Drew glanced up at the waitress. "Apologies." He turned back to her. "Go ahead, babe." At the word 'babe', the waitress' eyes bounced back and forth between her and Drew's faces. Then she sighted the rings upon their fingers and understanding dawned. The stars were erased from her eyes and immediately a professional veneer took its place. "I'll have," she cast Drew a sly look, "chili cheese fries, bacon cheeseburger and mocktail."

We walked back inside the restaurant and a waitress came up to us with a notepad and a pan. She was tall with long skinny legs. She had brown eyes, a straight nose, along with her African black curly hair and other features which made her look spectacular. “What would you guys like to have?” She asked. “Mashed potatoes and steak” Allison muttered. The waitress stared at him and smiled as she recognized him. Where’s your lovely wife?” she asked and smiled again. Upon saying that Allison burst out into tears which frightened her, I rubbed his back in an attempt to soothe him.

I wanted more privacy, and the bar wasn’t going to cut it. Looking around, I didn’t see her come back out. I assumed she was collecting herself in the back. “Can I get you anything, sir?” Another, much older waitress walked up to me. Their pink and white plaid uniform did little to hide just how big her stomach was. Fucking humans. “Coffee, black, please. Is that other waitress okay?” She looked towards the back. Her frizzy black spiral curly hair almost blocked her name tag. Carol. Go figure. “I think she is okay, but I’ll have her come out and say hello.”

Across the room, near the service corner where the lighting was dimmer and the noise of the kitchen created a buffer of privacy, two waitresses had paused longer than necessary. One leaned slightly towards the other, lowering her voice to a whisper that barely carried above the ambient sound. "Isn't that Ms. Williams, CEO of Transcorp?" the first waitress asked, her eyes darting back toward Sarah with a mixture of recognition and curiosity.

I could watch her for hours. Just then a small young blond waitress appeared wearing skintight pants and a low cut shirt. “Good evening, my name is Nikki.” she said. She looked at Danny and quickly dismissed her. “I’ll be serving you tonight.” She added and then shot me a seductive smile. I was not impressed and Dane was angry at her forwardness. She handed us the menu’s and asked, “Can I bring you something to drink? While you check this out?” Despite her flirtations I just ignored her and was hoping Danny wasn’t noticing.

There were about four of them in front of the double doors and I waved shyly. "Who are you? and state your business here" One of them asked with a piercing in his nose and I jerked at the tone of his voice before shuffling through my bag for my CV and showing it to them. "My name is Ava Delaney. I-m here for an interview for the waitress position" I said and they looked at each other before the one with a piercing spoke to the telecom in his ear. "Boss. There's a woman here. Ava Delaney for the waitress position." He said, glancing briefly at me.

The waitress came over and cleared her throat, I look up and gasp as her violet eyes stare into mine, a smile graced her face as she spoke, "good evening, what a sweet looking couple you are, my name is Fresca, I'm your server this evening, may I tempt you with a drink?" I shake my head and nearly scream, "NO," I blush as a few heads turn our way, I lower my voice, "thank you, unopened bottle waters for us, please." She smiled at me, "sparkling, or no?" I stiffen as her eyes left mine and went to Bastien, "no, not sparkling." She nods, not moving her line of vision off of Bastien, who is paying her no attention, his eyes on me shining with concern.
