Laughter spilled from his apartment. Nicole walked right past without a glance and exited the building. The air was still heavy, but the typhoon's advance winds had arrived. Whistling gusts cut through the streets. A new alert popped up. The typhoon was expected to arrive at 9 p.m. Nicole froze. It had moved up. She headed to the university library and gathered medical textbooks, disaster response manuals, martial arts guides, and books on mental conditioning. During the floods, this entire library would vanish underwater. Countless books would be lost forever.

I say, nudging her, “come on. Let’s go talk.” She nods quickly. “Yeah, yeah. Let’s go.” We slip into Conference Room B next door and shut the door behind us. The noise from the party dulls instantly. I exhale. “So what happened?” Kira doesn’t sugarcoat a thing. “Oh, girl. It’s a whole shit show. And when I say shit show, I mean a full blown disaster.”

He has to get to his child. We can push the door open far enough for me to slip into the opening. It is handy to be small sometimes. I enter the room, seeing the cause of the obstruction is a bookshelf. It must have tipped and lodged itself against the door during the earthquake. I tip the bookshelf back against the wall, letting Brixtius have access to the room. A room with furniture strewn all over the place. "Eurydice!" I yell out, hearing her cries from under a fallen dresser. Brixtius moves with speed and lifts the wooden furniture like it weighs nothing.

Jenny won't come back to life again, and I'll never leave Gelsa. Wilbur could understand the old man. The flood was a traumatic moment in his heart, after all. Regardless of who caused it, the people of Gelsa were dead and injured in the end. The whole town was submerged. It was a deep trauma that the old man could not let go of even after decades had passed.

Avery asked. "The letter said it would lead the way. I felt going during the day would reduce the risk of dying. But right now we are hooked." Wahika responded. "What about now?" Avery glared at her as she put some books in others, carried the biggest book, and opened it. "It is dangerous." She flipped the pages of the book. "Come check this out." Avery moved closer. "What is that?" Avery asked. There was little space between Avery and Wahika. "Today, the red moon is out." She continued flipping the pages, and she stopped on a page. "This," she pointed at the sea monster. "The combination of every smaller piece of them to make something huge - The war caused all these for mankind."

The flames had devoured it, leaving mere skeletal remnants that told a story of destruction far deeper than mere buildings. Seeing some limbs under the wreckage I throw books away from them, desperately clawing for her. Her body comes into sight. Quickly checking her pulse I find it, she's alive, just unconscious. Standing back I reach under and grab the bookshelf and lift it off her. Grabbing her and lifting her Into my arms I cough and wheeze before leaving. Going back out into the hallway proved difficult, the flames were higher, everything was at a boiling point. None of it mattered if I could get her out and away from this. Charging through the flames I could feel it start to burn my skin as I got past them.
