But one common trait she learned from the people was his greed for power. “All hail, Emperor Sargan the Sunborne, Chosen of the Sun God, Ember of the Phoenix, the Father of Drava, and Ruler of the Red Empire,” Councilor Hakim announced. “Your Eminence—the Archon Hunter of Shavath, Estes Amev and Grand Hunter Lorath Morvil.” “Rise,” Emperor Sargan said impatiently. When they all stood, Larice spied his bright, brown eyes—fiercer than any blade, and his dark, curly hair, reaching down to his shoulders. He studied his subjects one by one while tapping his fingers on the armrest of his seat.

“There are three kings and five emperors within this universe, and they are of extremely high status. Putting those kings aside, every one of those five emperors is not to be underestimated.” “They are the East Emperor Mooncrate, the South Emperor Fehlerlos, the West Emperor Paraiso, the North Emperor Dust, and the Central Emperor Yeshaya. And that was Dust, the North Emperor” “No one knows what his actual cultivation level is, but he is definitely one of the top hundred most powerful people in the universe. This old man is known for his bad temper and cruelty too. He definitely wouldn’t let you off this easily. He’s going to seek revenge!” Frostine was shocked. “Is he that powerful?”

He slightly bows to me, but his presence is very dark and commanding. "Excuse me King Simion, but they're waiting for you in the Kings office. Ryan has already escorted Lucian and Darius there. My name is Brayden Mason and I'm the head of the royal family warriors. Please follow me." As I follow Brayden, I was hit with a scent of lavender and the smell of the forest in the morning sunlight. It was faint but still enough to make me stop. Is this the smell of my mate? My heart starts to pound in my chest and I slow my walk searching for the source of the smell.

“Bow in reverence and offer your most loyal greetings to the twenty-sixth Emperor of the Empire Of Greten, Alpha Vidar De Lunarius Devereaux, the rightful ruler of this Holy Empire.” The announcer is supposed to say that proclamation is a loud, booming voice, but he says it simply and quietly. At my side, Lukas has been uncharacteristically silent the whole way here. The towering gates of the Emperor’s personal chambers without a sound, and the guards bow to let Lukas and I pass.

Ordinary-looking men with ordinary-looking lives. I stopped at one photograph. A man standing outside a restaurant in Milan. “Who’s he?” “Anton Volkov.” “Leader?” “Second.” I looked at him. “Then who’s first?” “We don’t know yet.” I frowned. “You’re going after them without knowing who runs the whole thing?” “We know enough.” Of course we did. That was how Enzo worked. I kept scrolling until something caught my attention, an emblem appearing across several of the documents. Small enough to miss if you weren’t looking for it, but once I noticed it, I started seeing it everywhere.

A ring of fire hung in the heavens—a black sun surrounded by a corona of burning white. The light in the room was strange, washing everything in grayscale. In the center of the room stood the God-Shell. It was finished. Fifty feet tall. Black iron armor plates etched with glowing red runes. It looked like a knight built for a titan. The chest cavity was open, revealing a seat lined with neural spikes. Standing before it was the Emperor. He wasn't in his exoskeleton. He was wearing ceremonial robes of white and gold. He looked frail, tiny against the backdrop of the machine and the dying sun.
