They were upset from seeing their parents leave suddenly, and when they overheard the others saying that they were going to war, many of them began to cry.
My story seemed to help, but since I only ever heard it once, overhearing an elder reciting it to Chris and Misty while I was doing chores, I had to fill in the blanks for most of it. And since the pups needed a fun distraction, the filled in bits just naturally came out silly.
“How many Warriors are left,” I asked nervously.
“Five,” Duncan reported, still bouncing around excitedly, but his face sobered quickly when he saw the worry in my face. “Why, what’s wrong?”
