Even Morris feels it, pacing the perimeter with a frown carved into his face, something heavy sits in the air, something waiting. I try to shake it off, but the unease clings to me like a second skin. I left Raven earlier with a promise I’d return, and as the sun dips low, all I want is to go home, to lay beside her, to breathe.
I’m halfway across the courtyard when the wind suddenly shifts, the ground trembles once.
