“How long has he been fighting it?” I whispered, staring down at the sink. “I can’t imagine how tiring it must be.”
Hera stepped closer, leaning her hip against the counter, her shoulder brushing mine, and I jerked back, eying her with caution.
“For a long time. But he is stronger now than he was at the beginning, and gets stronger every day.” Her tone was matter-of-fact, and I admired her confidence.
“I couldn’t imagine surviving doing what he does. It would break me.” I said, placing my cup down on the marble countertop.
