The sound grew clearer until finally they came to a stop in front of the center table positioned a few steps away from me.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, narrowing my eyes. “I don’t recall calling for either of you.”
Wade cleared his throat, he already expected my displeasure. “Our apologies, Alpha,” he began, lifting a woven basket between his hands. The faint, sweet scent of something freshly baked drifted toward me. “The human had us bake cupcakes… and, well—” He hesitated, glancing at Earl beside him.
“We were worried you might be angry if we ate them all. So we decided to bring what’s left, so you could have a taste as well.”
